Care and Maintenance Guide

To maintain the natural beauty of your stone it should be cared for in accordance with these guidelines.

Clean stone surfaces with a neutral cleaner, such as dishwashing liquid and warm water. Use a soft cloth for best results. Too much soap may leave a film and cause streaks. If streaking occurs it may be necessary to rinse the surface thoroughly after washing and dry with a soft cloth. Clean surface at least weekly with RMGD 3 -in-1 cleaner.

There are over the counter cleaning products safe to use on stone surfaces. Please read labels carefully to determine which products are appropriate.

Do not use scouring cleansers or products that contain lemon, vinegar or other acids, as these products may etch the surface.

Spills should be cleaned up immediately to avoid staining.

Although natural stone is heat resistant it may not withstand the direct transfer of heat from pots and pans and other cooking units such as electric frying pans and griddles, some crock-pots, roaster ovens and heat lamps. Therefore, hot pads and trivets should always be used under the afore mentioned items.

Your countertop has been sealed with a silicone impregnator. The sealer is guaranteed for a period of ten-years from the original date of installation. Your countertop is in need of sealant if water left on the surface quickly soaks in, making it darker in color. RMGD will send one of our qualified installers to seal the stone free of charge if at any time within the ten-year period the countertop needs re-sealed. Simply contact our scheduling department @ 319-754-0413 ext. 108 for an appointment.
